Product Manufacturer Product Description and Principal Function(s) The Companion is a lightweight, low power Passive Intermodulation (PIM) tester that can be carried up telecommunications towers for a coarse check on individual components, or used at the bottom of the tower to check for badly out of performance components or interconnections. The simple to use one button push-to-test implementation makes it ideal for the intended application as does the rugged styling and large over moulded enclosure. It is the lightest, highest performing device in its class.Key Product Features and Benefits The companion is a completely new product developed from the ground up. The intelligent filter and electronic design has created a new product sector in the market for lightweight, portable PIM testers – there are no other products available that can perform the same function with the same level of portability. The design has been developed to reflect the industrial nature of the telecommunications sector. Well integrated angular surfaces and contours semantically promote the functionality of the device. Strong lines, and bold colour breaks provide a feeling of ruggedness sought by a market constantly looking for reliability. Colours and textures have been carefully selected (in a separate product branding project run concurrently with the development of this device) to emanate a feeling of strength (black and grey, strong textures) and reinforce brand identity with the consistent use of a highlight colour (bright green). The companion will firmly establish the Triasx/Summitek brand in the telecommunications diagnostic instrument market place. The product is simple to use with one button push-to-test functionality. The layout of the device with the large handle, shoulder strap, and non-slip TPR over-mould allows a lot of flexibility in use and transport. The large 3/16 cable connector has also been positioned for easy access with good protection from accidental damage. Recharging or reprogramming the battery/device is simple with the accessible multifunctional power/data connector. Replaceable labels allow the enclosure to be easily updated and used for different products and models. The Companion has been manufactured with a high quality injection moulded enclosure. The glass-filled, over moulded Polycarbonate enclosure provides a tough shell to protect the precision RF filter and electronic components. Lexan labels, premium grade polymers and high-spec buttons finish the product appropriately as a high value item. A lot of attention and time has been invested in the layout and usability of the device. The LED bar display has been integrated into both sides of the product making the device ambidextrous. This also allows the display to be read from awkward positions within the Base Station environment or while climbing a mast. The handle provides a solid grip for carrying as well as a good attachment point for hoisting the device up a mast. The companion complies with CE, UL, and FCC directives for electronic devices. The Companion goes where non-portable devices can’t go. It makes fault identification and quality checking faster and more economical for network operators resulting in a better QoS for wireless users. The product has been designed for serviceability and will last for the life of the technology that it has been designed to inspect. |
