Product Manufacturer Product Description and Principal Function(s) Springfree™ Trampoline is a recreational consumer trampoline that has removed the impact areas causing injury in traditional trampoline designs. Springfree™ Trampoline is committed to reducing the occurrence of backyard trampoline injuries through innovative product design. As a result, we have engineered a trampoline jumping surface that provides a responsive bounce without hard springs or hard frame at the jumping surface. Injuries traditionally sustained by falls is addressed by providing a safety enclosure fully deformable on all planes, removing the risk of falls both to the ground and to rigid enclosure poles.Key Product Features and Benefits In the opening paragraph of the forward of Australian Standard AS4989-2006, “Trampolines – Safety Aspects”, the committee writes, “…In industrial safety, there is a recognized hierarchy of hazard control measures, based on the principle that hazards should be engineered out, and that personal protective equipment is a last line of defences. Trampolines present a different situation…”.This suggests that a trampoline design that ‘engineers out’ impact hazard areas would indeed create an entirely unique and ‘…different situation…’ - representing a design breakthrough in safety and function. Springfree™ Trampoline has done just that - developing a unique trampoline design removing the impact zones associated with traditional trampolines. The design objective was to deliver superior trampoline safety, allowing the developmental benefits of trampoline jumping while removing the hazards of the traditional design, thus reducing the associated risks. The Springfree™ Trampoline design eliminates the areas that cause trampoline equipment induced injury - the springs, rigid enclosures, and frame at the jumping surface. Our designers focused on removing these areas from the design, and replacing with safer structural alternatives. The Springfree™ Trampoline and FlexiNet™ Enclosures are proprietary trampoline designs protected by a number of international patents, registered designs, and trademarks. The Springfree™ Trampoline family of products are protected by US Patent 6319174, Australian Patent 2002351531, China Patent ZL02825390.6, NZ Patent, 513331, Registered Designs Aust311568, Euro000582717-0001, Euro000126602-0001, with other Australian patents and registered designs pending. These patents cover design elements and are either pending examination and/or proceeded to national grant: rod based trampoline concept, visual edge, proprietary rod retaining cleat system, FlexiNet™ safety enclosure, rod safety systems, and soft edge. Through innovation and application of engineering “best practice”, we are the only trampoline manufacturer that has achieved the removal of the equipment based hazards that have been present in the original design for over 70 years. The Springfree™ Trampoline delivers the same, or superior functionality as traditional design trampolines, and retains its aesthetically pleasing form over time (unlike traditional designs). Traditional trampolines are responsible for the hospitalisation of over 6000 Australian children per year; by removing the traditional hazards from trampoline design, Springfree Trampoline has created a product that will reduce injury occurrence. Testing experts, Safety Organisations and thousands of independent consumers confirm this is the safest trampoline option. With a steady increase in the sales of trampolines globally, and continual increase of trampoline related injuries (over 200,000 in the USA in 2007), the injuries induced through the use of traditional design trampolines is nearing epidemic proportions. Springfree Trampoline has “engineered out” the traditional hazards and effectively removed the risk of product induced injury from this popular, yet to date dangerous, backyard toy. |
