Product Description and Principal Function(s)

The CookSurface product is a world first in appliances. Revolutionary design has removed traditional, awkward gas hobs with an elegant, flush, easy clean design that fuses the best of gas and ceramic technology together.
A stylish, seamless black ceramic glass is the backdrop from which innovative burners and pan supports emerge, individually, for cooking and then retract when finished.
Unique new Aeroburner technology generates linear flame control so precise it allows you to melt chocolate gently on a burner or sear rib eye steak over a ferocious flame.

Key Product Features and Benefits

The CookSurface represents an entirely new way of looking at gas cooking and improving the user experience, a revolutionary combination of gas and ceramic technology. A flush, seamless black ceramic glass is the backdrop from where burners emerge for cooking and retract when no longer required. When the cooktop is not in use it has the visual discreteness of a ceramic surface, yet once functioning, it offers the power and functionality of gas cooking.

Strong product semantics and intuitive design features, from innovative burner and pan supports, to the electronic dial controls that allow for accurate, incremental flame adjustment, heighten the users’ experience of visual and physical feedback. The burners are raised and lowered individually, allowing the user to tailor the configuration to their unique cooking requirements. The ceramic surface becomes a useable area when a burner is not in use; an area that has never been utilised on a gas cooktop before. The design of the CookSurface allows for easy cleaning of the ceramic surface, burners and lifters, while maintaining a minimal clean product aesthetic.

The CookSurface from Fisher & Paykel, through its simple clean forms, has numerous innovative technological breakthroughs that not only improve the quality and efficiency of cooking, but also improve and sustain a dynamic user experience by providing both audio and visual feedback.

The retractable aero® burner developed for the cooktop have fan pressurised base pans, ensuring excellent gas combustion over a wide operating temperature. This breakthrough allows a single burner to perform functions from melting chocolate to wok cooking. This removes the need to change burners to suit your cooking requirements, thus allowing the cooktop to consist of three complete burners as apposed to the traditional four.

Fisher & Paykel’s commitment to sustainability has been demonstrated with the efficiency of the aero® burners. Through the introduction of fan forced air, the flame becomes a fluid curtain, maintaining consistent primary heat and distributing this evenly across the base of the pot, resulting in faster heating times and more efficient and accurate heat use. (Traditionally, gas cooktop’ lose half the heat up the side of the pot).

Ergonomics played a central role in this world first invention. The unusual three - in - a - row burner technology was developed as a result of our design teams observing people in their normal cooking routines. Our research showed that the optimum number of burners that one can handle comfortably at one time was three.

In so doing we have removed the inherent dangers associated with cooking on the rear burners of a traditional hob. The dial controls for the cooktop allow accurate, incremental linear flame control, divided into individual flame settings. These are complemented by a digital display. This provides more peace of mind and ergonomic comfort while using the cooktop, thus heightening user experience and enjoyment.
