Product Manufacturer Product Description and Principal Function(s) The No See, No Touch™ mousetrap is a simple but highly effective, low cost, easy to use and safe solution to pest control in the home. Its principal function is to kill the mouse quickly and offer a solution for easy and hygienic disposal. The “No See No Touch” feature was a principal client requirement. The simplicity of the design involves only two moving parts. The device is prepared with a bait of cheese or peanut butter placed in the receptacle on the bottom of the trap and then it is “set” by a single twist of the top moulding. The user is alerted to the functional states of the device by a simple indicator on the top which points to the device being “set” and “mouse caught”. The mouse is completely concealed (tail and all) and the whole device is simply disposed of in the refuse. Testing in the US has proven the No See, No Touch™ mousetrap to be a highly effective device.Key Product Features and Benefits Every inventor, sooner or later, seeks to build a better mouse trap – literally! At last count, there were more than 5,000 patents registered worldwide over the past century, claiming to have created the ‘definitive’ mouse catcher. The No See, No Touch™ Mousetrap by Reckitt Benckiser is the “better mousetrap”.Innovation/Originality: While it’s long been considered a metaphor for great power – not to mention the Holy Grail of any aspiring inventor’s CV – many of these contraptions have resorted to both ineffective and inhumane methods, ranging from snap traps and ones that elected electrocution to others which slowly drowned or bogged down the pest in sticky glue. None have offered as simple, effective, environmentally and hygienically sensitive a solution as the latest mouse trap to end all mouse traps – the Mortein No See, No Touch™ – developed by Invetech on behalf of Reckitt Benckiser. Smartness of Design: This user-friendly black disc design resembles an ice hockey puck, but rather than having a solid interior, its lightweight, plastic exterior contains inbuilt indicators to tell the user when the trap has been set and when the mouse has been caught. Functionality: To set, the user simply twists the top cover in one full clockwise rotation until it locks while holding the base of the trap. A red indicator shows through the hole marked ‘Set’ on the trap’s top. (If the trap is accidentally triggered, a red indicator will show at the ‘Not Set’ position, allowing the user to retrace the easy setting procedure). Once set, an entryway large enough only for a mouse appears. Once inside, the mouse follows the smell of the bait placed inside the device from underneath before being resealed with self-adhesive tape. As the mouse moves around the cylinder, it sets off the trapping mechanism, which quickly and humanely kills the animal. When the mouse entryway is closed and the red indicator shows through the hole marked ‘Mouse Caught,’ users simply dispose of the entire trap. Appropriateness: This mouse trap not only improves on all other models available on the world market, but has achieved what every homeowner has sought since the beginning of time – a simple to use trap that is easy to bait, even easier to set and keeps the mouse totally concealed after its caught. Better still, it is completely safe around children and pets. There is no unsightly mess to clean up and may be simply discarded following a successful trapping. Design for Manufacture: From a manufacturing point of view, this innovative design involves few moving parts and can be mass produced via the use of basic injection moulding methods and simple tools. The Mortein No See No Touch™ met all of the customer’s design, manufacturing and cost criteria and has been warmly received by homeowners worldwide since its release earlier this year. |
