Its USB connection means that the Stakka does not require separate power or adapters, enabling the product to be installed at any computer, in any country. Manufactured in Asia and distributed in over 80 countries via a partnership with global giant Imation, the Disc Stakka is a truly global product. Each Disc Stakka holds up to 100 discs and is easily scalable to over 60,000 discs. The bundled OpdiTracker software provides "virtually online" access to CDs and DVDs, and enables the user to locate and access any disc or file within seconds. This solution is compatible with both Windows and Mac, and helps to save precious time by delivering the file or disc on demand. Key Product Features and Benefits Intelligence / Smartness of DesignAn intelligent hardware and software solution, the Stakka has been designed to link to a computer via a single USB cable for both power and data connectivity. Each Stakka unit is designed to store, protect and retrieve up to 100 12cm discs including CDs, DVDs, music and games. Units can be stacked up to five high to create a tower that holds up to 500 discs without any extra cabling or needing to reboot your computer. The intuitive OpdiTracker software is simple to use and enables a search friendly database for stored discs by title, keyword, directory or file name. The fully motorized disk slot ejects disks within seconds. In addition, the software has been designed to automatically recognize new units as they are added to the system. Functionality Each unit holds up to 100 discs and links to any PC via a single USB connection that supplies both power and data. Built-in connectors allow users to stack units five high to create a tower that holds 500 discs without needing additional cables or desk space. Up to 127 of these towers can be linked via powered USB hubs to store, manage and protect as many as 63,500 discs – all from the one computer. The OpdiTracker software automatically recognizes units as they are added and gives the user the option to add its name and file structure to the database. Appropriateness / Need As files grow larger, people archive lesser used documents onto CDs and DVDs. By the end of the year, we often end up with a pile of disks, many of them poorly labeled, and some already damaged. The search for that one file can be a long and frustrating task. Effective and timely disk storage is not just helpful – it is a necessity. With an estimated 30 billion pieces of optical media produced this year, the Disc Stakka will become a requirement for any IT professional, software developer or business consultant relying on disks to archive or communicate their work. Longevity The Stakka has been designed as an out-of-the box, self-contained product. It has been designed without a reader, enabling it to be picked up and connected to any computer. In addition, the next two generations of Optical media is expected to utilize 12cm discs meaning the Disc Stakka will be used for a long time to come. In keeping with its global appeal, Opdicom have partnered with Sanmina-SCI to manufacture the Stakka in Thailand. The Stakka has been designed for easy top down assembly, with careful attention of the design of all components for ease of assembly, reliable service and minimum cost. |
