Product Manufacturer Product Description and Principal Function(s) Globally, wine consumption is growing at a significant rate. Wine-by–the glass is fast proving to be one of the primary industry drivers. Recognising this trend, WinePreserva has developed a world-first approach to ensuring the longevity of wine consumed in this way.The Wine Preserva is a disk system which, when inserted in an opened bottle of wine, keeps the nose and taste of the wine “at restaurant quality” for up to 5 days. Less expensive than alternative products, the disk is simple and easy to use, and unlike conventional preserving techniques, does not contaminate or taint the wine. Key Product Features and Benefits The Wine Preserver is a first-of-kind, breakthrough product designed to reduce oxidation of wine and lengthen the life of the product. The Wine Preserva is a coated disc system innovatively designed for flexibility enabling it to be rolled for insertion into the opened wine bottle, and then float on the wine surface providing a suitable barrier to oxygen. Currently, most systems on the market either re-insert the cork, or the cap is put back on – trapping oxygen in the bottle, and worse, refreshing the oxygen each time a glass is poured. In some instances, the bottle is left open until the end of the night, and then treated with nitrogen and other gases. With the Wine Preserva, the barrier stays in place as the wine is poured, with no need to re-cork the bottle. The Wine Preserva concept differs from other methods for the preservation of wine in partially opened bottles. Instead of changing the nature of the headspace, the Wine Preserva introduces a physical barrier between the wine and the headspace gas. Oxidation is delayed and the product can be kept “at restaurant quality” for up to 5 days.A low cost design, which is quick and easy to deploy, makes the WinePreserva an ideal alternative for both the consumer and retail markets. A companion product, a reusable fork-like “applicator”, facilitates the rolling and insertion of the disk.Whilst the WinePreserva looks simple, an intelligent design process and extensive research and development has resulted in a world-first wine preserving technique which: · Does not contaminate or taint the wine · Does not change the sensory characteristics (aroma or taste) of the wine · Does not trap air between the disk and the wine surface, providing a constant barrier to oxygen To achieve these benefits, the WinePreserva disk: · Floats on the surface of the wine, and has sufficient buoyancy to return to the surface rapidly once the bottle has been tilted · Rolls for insertion into the bottle without fracture or deformation, and maintains a fringe to facilitate surface coverage in a range of bottle sizes · Returns to a flat shape after rolling and insertion through the neck of the bottle · Is manufactured from material approved with for contact with foods and beverages · Is sufficient to cover more than 80% of bottle wine market in one variant · Has a retail price of $1 or less for an individual product, and 55c or less at wholesale · Is disposable with the bottle – reclaimable & able to be separated if required Each WinePreserva disk is encased, similar to a “tea-bag”, to allow it to be deployed without handling. The “tea-bags” are presented in either of two packaging forms: a 5-disk folder for retail sale, and an 80-disk carton for commercial use (eg restaurants or winery tasting rooms). |
